The American Bar Association Center on Children and the Law project will address the need for trauma-informed legal advocacy and judicial decision making for court-involved children and youth experiencing poly-victimization through a training curriculum, online and print resources, and technical assistance for its membership and allied professionals.

The Justice Resource Center Institute’s Trauma Center will conduct the “Enhancing Multidisciplinary Responses to Polyvictimization” project to engage service providers outside the mental health field to instill and strengthen the trauma perspective in their services to polyvictims.

The National Committee for the Prevention of Elder Abuse, along with seven national collaborative partners, will conduct a literature review and hold a national forum on the exploration of late life polyvictimization and its most promising solutions. From these a curriculum will be developed including a high quality video series with written training materials and a dedicated e-training website.

The American Academy of Pediatrics will increase the capabilities of pediatrician-led medical home teams and their partners to effectively respond to children and families who have been victimized by multiple types of violence through a large-scale social awareness campaign and incorporation of an intensive focus on polyvictimization in the Medical Home for Children Exposed to Violence training and technical assistance program.

The National Crime Victims Law Institute’s National Alliance of Victims’ Rights Attorneys will create the “2012 Protecting Polyvictims’ Rights Project” to help prevent secondary victimization of polyvictims by ensuring their rights are protected from initial interactions with a victim service provider through participation in the justice system. They will create and disseminate educational materials, provide trainings across the nation, and develop a national online community to share best practices and provide technical assistance.
